We are on a mission to find the best of the best. We want to find the best grub in the Cedar Valley. Whether it’s finding dive bars and restaurants for our weekly supper club, biking across Iowa to the best breweries, or arguing over the best food combination —we want to talk about it.

Chili was a natural first step. Collectively (OK mostly Brett), we have graced the top 3 in all 4 chili contests we have entered. This includes one 1st place, and back to back 2nd place finishes at the Annual Panther Lounge Chili Cook-off. Which some have referred to as the Academy Awards of Chili Cook-offs. Finishing second place when you clearly produced the best chili can leave a bitter taste in your mouth. What better way to get rid of that taste than to eat more chili? We have talked for months about finding the best places that serve chili; so it’s about time we got out and investigated. We have developed a system to rank each chili based on 6 categories: presentation, color, aroma, consistency, taste, and aftertaste. Using these categories we will develop the official Breggie rating.

Our end game is to find the best chili in the area, and we hope to encounter surprises along the way. On a weekly basis we will review chili until February 23rd, better known as National Chili Day.

All that being said we encourage you to provide us with suggestions and comments. We want to make clear that we are not writers or foodies, and we definitely won’t do pickles or mushrooms, but we will promise you this:

We will be thorough.

We will be diligent.

We will have fun.

Now… Let’s eat!
